Obtaining a Source Code Addendum to the Distribution License

The Source Code Addendum is an add-on to the basic EnergyPlus Distribution License Agreement.   The Source Code Addendum gives you the right to use the source code of EnergyPlus internally, thus enabling development of derivative works of EnergyPlus or other projects that require access to source code. Click here for more information on the Source Code Addendum and other EnergyPlus license types.

You may execute a Source Code Addendum at the same time as executing the Distribution License Agreement or at a later date; however, to obtain the Source Code Addendum you must also purchase a Distribution License Agreement.

To obtain a Source Code Addendum, please follow these steps:

  1. Please print out two copies of the Source Code Addendum to the EnergyPlus Distribution License Agreement, below. You should fill out both copies of the agreement, sign them and mail both to us; we will return one countersigned copy to you.

  2. The licensing fee is US$1500. Payment should be made in U.S. dollars, via check made payable to "The Regents of the University of California (EnergyPlus)".

  3. In the middle of page 1, please fill in all the blank spaces on both copies, entering your name and address and other contact information.

  4. Return both signed agreements along with payment to:
Technology Transfer Department
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
1 Cyclotron Road, MS 90-1070
Berkeley, CA  94720-0001
E-Mail: TTD@lbl.gov

Upon receipt of the signed agreements, we will contact you with instructions for accessing the EnergyPlus source code. Also, we will countersign each original you return to us and return one fully signed original to you for your records. If you have any questions or comments, please e-mail psseidenman@lbl.gov.
